The Coyotes sent Boedker to the minors on Friday after recalling defenseman Shaun Heshka from their San Antonio AHL affiliate.
Analysis: The 19-year-old Boedker, a first-round pick in 2008, was recalled from San Antonio on Tuesday. He played in Wednesday night's loss at Colorado but was a healthy scratch the following day against Chicago. Boedker was first sent to San Antonio on Oct. 14 after he went pointless in five games for the Coyotes.
The Phoenix Coyotes have recalled Heshka from their San Antonio AHL affiliate and are sending forward Mikkel Boedker back to the minors.
Analysis: Heshka had two goals and two assists in 13 games with San Antonio this season. He was acquired by Phoenix from Vancouver on June 27 for a seventh-round draft pick.
Hedman will not be in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens following a body check that left him flattened on the ice. Hedman was rocked by a hit from Ottawa's Chris Neil during the Senators' 3-2 overtime win Thursday night.
Analysis: Hedman says he feels OK but will skip the game as a precaution. The defenseman watched his teammates practice Friday and says he does not want to risk anything this early in the season. He adds that his status is day to day.
Kopitar had two goals for the Kings on Thursday night as they rallied from a one-goal deficit to score four times in the third period of a 5-2 win over the Stanley Cup champion Penguins. Los Angeles improved to 6-0-2 in its last eight games for the club's longest point streak since November 2000.
Analysis: "Our maturity level is a lot higher,'' said Kopitar, who has an NHL-high 26 points in 16 games. "We're playing with a lot of desperation, and that's a good thing. We were losing these kinds of games last year, going into the third period behind the champions. Now we're sticking with it for 60 minutes and getting the right result.''
Selanne scored two goals to overtake Hall of Famer Jean Beliveau on the career points list, in the Ducks' 4-0 victory over the Predators on Thursday night.
Analysis: Selanne increased his career point total to 1,221, breaking a tie with Beliveau for 38th place. Selanne has played in 1,146 regular-season games, 21 more than Beliveau. "He's a legend in Montreal, and it's a great honor to pass guys like him because you know you have done some good things in this league," Selanne said. "Things like this are just a bonus for myself. Obviously, I'm very lucky and thankful for how my career has gone."
Hiller made all 40 saves in a 4-0 win over the Predators on Thursday to earn his fifth NHL shutout.
Analysis: The shutout was the first for the Ducks since Jan. 17 when Hiller won at Minnesota. He made his fourth consecutive start since Jean-Sebastien Giguere re-aggravated a groin injury. "We played pretty solid defensively," Hiller said. "I gave up a couple of rebounds, but our defensemen were doing a great job clearing the puck. It's definitely the way we have to play. After we got the first goal, we were able to get that second one and were able to build on that."
Raycroft made 28 saves in his fifth straight game in place of Roberto Luongo, who has been out with a rib injury. He earned 5-2 win Thursday over the Wild.
Analysis: Raycroft is 4-1 with a 1.60 GAA this season.
Backstrom gave up four goals on 17 shots Thursday in a 5-2 loss to Vancouver.
Analysis: Backstrom took poor angles throughout the first two periods and somehow let Matt Pettinger score from a seemingly impossible shallow angle, prompting coach Todd Richards to insert Josh Harding to start the third.
Osgood made 33 saves Thursday in a 2-1 shootout victory over San Jose.
Analysis: Osgood had his third good game in a row _ a big reason for the Red Wings' three-game winning streak _ after a slow start. He has a 0.65 GAA in his last three games.
Spezza had a goal and two assists Thursday in a 3-2 overtime win over the Lightning. It was his first goal of the season.
Analysis: Sidelined the previous two games because of back pain, Spezza drove a slap shot past Antero Niittymaki for his third point of the game after Tampa Bay's Mattias Ohlund was sent off for holding 3 minutes into overtime. "I felt pretty good about my game going into tonight and I just wasn't getting many bounces," said Spezza, a 30-goal scorer each of the last three seasons. "It's nice to get one, though, to get the monkey off a little bit."
